About WCLC

(03) 9807 6011
As your local neighbourhood house, Waverley Community Learning Centre is not only a hub of activity and learning, but also a meeting place and vital community establishment.

Administered by a Committee of Governance of local residents, the Centre is committed to the development and needs of the local community, and providing friendly and supportive services for all.

Established in 1973

Serving the community for over 40 years, Waverley Community Learning Centre has established itself as an integral social and educational establishment within the local area.
Initiated by a small group of passionate people in 1973, the Centre has played a vital role in community life.
During the neighbourhood house boom of the 1970's - a result of great upheaval and social change - people sought out new knowledge, social fulfillment, and purpose. Neighbourhood houses provided this, and became an important sanctuary for the local community.

Today, the Centre offers a still growing number of courses and events to choose from, provides a meeting place for a variety of different social groups, and helps to better the community through projects and partnerships.

Our Vision, Our Purpose

With the help of our programs and activities, we aim to boost community growth through personal growth, and add to the positive contributions each of us can make to the community.

We offer opportunities for the mind, heart and health, and encourage development and personal growth by responding to the social, recreational and educational needs of the community.
It is important to us that we deliver accessible activities that reduce social isolation, improve well-being, and add value to the community.
We wish to provide a space for members of the local community to share their knowledge, skills, and experience with others.

What we value most is maintaining a harmonious, diverse, and flexible learning environment, and treating others with the utmost respect and integrity.

Moving forward, we would love to expand our programs, services and activities to meet community needs, develop and improve our facilities, and participate in more partnerships and networking to ensure we continue to provide the best service we can.
In the spirit of reconciliation Waverley Community and Learning Centre acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
